Safety
When making beauty and personal care products, please be mindful of safety.

  • It's always a good idea to keep any non-edible items in the household away from children and pets.
  • Many homemade formulations are meant to be used immediately and are perishable.  Try to make small batches and discard leftovers.  If you do store products for later use, label them with their ingredients and an expiration date.
  • Your skin may be sensitive to certain ingredients.  Before using a product on your face for the first time, it's wise to do a small patch test on an inconspicuous area such as your inner arm and wait 24 hours to observe possible signs of irritation.
  • Homemade and traditional products are most often very gentle, but if excessive irritation or stinging occurs, rinse the product off immediately, discontinue use, and consult a physician if necessary.
  • The information on this site is presented for educational use.  The content has not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. It is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.
  • Please consult your physician if you have any questions about using a product with any illness or condition you may have, including being pregnant or nursing.

By taking these simple safety precautions, we can enjoy making and using our products with pleasure and peace of mind.
